Jason V. Smith, M.D., FACS
Ear, Nose & Throat Physician
Dr. Smith provides quality ENT care for children and adults. He is a board certified Otolaryngologist practicing ear, nose, and throat surgery, and has a particular interest in medical and surgical conditions of the ear. He is extensively trained in surgery.
Dr. Smith is a graduate of Tulane University School of Medicine. He attended post graduate surgical training at Tulane University in New Orleans and Northwestern University in Chicago, Illinois. His memberships include: American Board of Otolaryngology; Fellow of the American College of Surgeons; Fellow of the American Academy of Otolaryngology and Head and Neck Surgery; Past President of the Mississippi Eye, Ear, Nose and Throat Society; Past Chief of Staff of Memorial Hospital at Gulfport; Current Medical Director of the Gulf South Surgery Center; Current Clinical Instructor in Otolaryngology at Tulane University; and Alternate Governor for the State of Mississippi to the American Academy of Otolaryngology.
Karen Slater, AuD

Dr. Karen Slater is the director of the Audiology Department at Coastal ENT in Gulfport since 1991 and is also owner of Coastal Hearing Center. Dr. Slater received her Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees from the University of Southern Mississippi and her Doctorate of Audiology from the University of Florida. Prior to working at Coastal ENT, she worked four years at Eye Ear Nose and Throat Hospital in New Orleans as a Clinical Audiologist. Her oldest son, Brian Slater, is presently attending USM and is majoring in Audiology. She also has Jason, Austin, and Jordan still at home attending Gulfport High, St. Patrick Catholic High, and St. James Catholic elementary school, respectively.
Charlene Taylor, AuD
Doctor of Audiology
Dr. Charlene Taylor has been a Clinical Audiologist with Coastal ENT since 2002. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in 2000 and her Master of Science degree in 2002 from the University of Southern Mississippi. She then received her Doctorate of Audiology in 2007 from Salus University. She has two beautiful elementary school age daughters.
Kimberly is our bubbly receptionist that joined us July 2015! She has an Associates Degree in Medical Office Technology/Billing and Coding from MGCCC. She handles all phone calls, insurance billing, and collections. She is going on 12 years being married to her husband, Brandon, and has 2 handsome little boys. They keep her busy outdoors and playing sports!
