Why a Hearing Assessment Should Be Your First Step

If you’ve experienced a sudden drop in your hearing quality, you’re getting buzzing noises, or something just doesn’t seem quite right, then you need to have a hearing assessment to identify the problem.

These quick, painless, and non-intrusive assessments are designed to get to the root of the problem (if there is one), and we’ll sit down with you after the test to discuss the results and your options, which means there’s no hanging around!

So, what can you expect during your hearing assessment?

Well, exactly this…

#1 - A Warm Welcome

As soon as you walk through the door, you’ll be greeted by our friendly receptionist and asked to take a seat.

#2 - The Paperwork

In order for us to give you the most tailored service, we’ll ask you to fill in some basic paperwork; this will also enable us to analyze the results with total accuracy.

#3 - Meet Your Audiologist

Your audiologist will then greet you and ask you a few simple questions about how your ears have been feeling lately.

#4 - We'll Look In Your Ears

We’ll then take a quick look in both of your ears using an otoscope. At this stage, we’ll be able to tell whether your issue is hearing related or, in some cases, just a build-up of wax or fluff!

#5 - We'll Test Your Hearing

In the sound booth, you will be asked to put on headphones.  Once on, tones will be presented at various pitches and you will be asked to press a button when you hear them.  This is the best way for us to know what you can and cannot hear.  Also, words will be present and you will be asked to repeat those words.  This is the best way for us to determine your ability to discriminate similar words.

#6 - Review Results

We suggest a hearing assessment for anyone who has experienced a sudden change in their hearing and for those who have simply noticed a gradual decline over a number of years.

If you’ve experienced any change to your hearing lately, or you’ve noticed something wasn’t quite right a while ago but thought it would get better on its own, then it’s in your best interests to book a hearing assessment and get the ultimate peace of mind.
